Governors, policy makers, and analysts gathered in Porto Alegre, Brazil on November 18 and 19 to participate in the Sub-Regional Dialogue on Citizen Security Policy, a two-day meeting convened by the Inter-American Development Bank, in collaboration with the Inter-American Dialogue, to discuss and examine the efforts of sub-national actors against crime and violence in Latin America. Since 2011, the Dialogue has partnered with the Citizen Security Cluster of the Inter-American Development Bank to design and organize a series of outreach and exchange activities focused on citizen security issues in the Americas. The series provides a unique forum for the exchange of ideas between bank staff and regional experts. The goal is to encourage fresh thinking and innovative responses to the region’s security challenges that can serve as a resource of information for the wider Latin America policy community.
