The Dialogue’s Education Program (PREAL) seeks to improve the quality and equity of education in Latin America. It does so by partnering with public and private organizations throughout the hemisphere to identify policy options, promote informed debate on education policy, and monitor progress toward improvement.

ONGOING PROJECTS

The Inter-American Dialogue is leading a two-year project designed to strengthen civil society support for improving teacher policy in Central America (Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador) and the Dominican Republic. The goal is to raise the profile of education reform, stimulate debate, and help build the consensus necessary to enable the region's governments to adopt new and more effective teacher policies.

The Inter-American Dialogue launched Quality Education for All, an innovative, high-level initiative designed to promote educational reform in Latin America through the comprehensive mobilization of public and private sector leaders, media, and civil society organizations. The initiative is led by a high-level commission presided by former Presidents Ernesto Zedillo of Mexico and Ricardo Lagos of Chile.

The Inter-American Dialogue and CAF - Development Bank of Latin America hosted the seminar "Latin America's Productivity Challenge: New Approaches to Technical Education and Professional Training." This seminar brought together policymakers, academics, and other experts to discuss the state of technical education and professional training in Latin America, review lessons from experience, and explore opportunities for reform.
