
Regional Integration? Trends and Patterns of Remittance flows within South East Asia

International migration is increasingly influencing the global economy. Remittances sent by migrant workers amount to some US$200 billion going to countries and regions in Latin America, Asia, Africa or Europe.1 The South East Asia region is an important example of the global trend. Historically, this region been characterized by fluid migration, but recent economic and other changes have dramatically increased these flows of people and money.
