Educación y Brechas de Equidad en América Latina - Tomo II
By Santiago Cueto
December 15, 2006
This book, together with Educación y Brechas de Equidad en América Latina. Tomo I, contains nine research papers that were funded in the second round of a region-wide research competition organized in 2003-2004 by PREAL’s Latin American Educational Research Fund (FIE) with support from the World Bank. The call for proposals asked researchers to focus on how to promote equity in pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools. The studies address diverse topics in six countries, including compensatory policies to promote equity in Argentina, the equity of education spending in Bolivia, primary repetition rates in Uruguay and their effect on equity, an impact evaluation of Bolsa Escola and FUNDEF in Brazil, factors that preclude good academic achievement in poor schools in Chile, self-perceptions of rural mothers and their impact on their school-age daughters, and the effects of school choice in Chile on schools, student performance, and families. Spanish.
