ABOUT
The Inter-American Dialogue in cooperation with the Inter-American Development Bank is relaunching an important policy program on race and inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean. The goals of this program are threefold. First, it seeks to increase the visibility of Afro-descendant populations in the region along with the economic, social, and political challenges they face. Second, the program supports the integration of race-related issues into the development agendas of governments and political leaders. This aspect of the program includes the promotion of the socioeconomic and political participation of Afro-descendants in the region. Finally, both the Dialogue and the IDB are working to address the lack of available research and data on the social and development concerns of Afro-descendant groups in Latin America and the Caribbean.
